12 Months Old: Happy 1st Birthday!

Happy 1st Birthday Kamden! We celebrated all day yesterday with a Dr. Seuss, "Cat In The Hat" themed party! Kamden's development has really advanced in the past month. It's official, our infant is now a toddler! Here is what he has been up to these days!

• Almost 24 Pounds (50-75th Percentile)... and 29.5 Inches Long (25-5oth Percentile) .. 49cm Head circumference (90th Percentile)!

• The latest milestone... is taking his first single steps. He has been trying his best to start walking. He even started to crawl half way standing up, with just his hands and feet touching the ground. He has also been walking by himself with one hand holding onto his push toy.

• Stands alone. Can maneuver between standing and squatting, and back up again without holding onto anything.

• New concept of shapes and things fitting together. He has a toy helicopter that multi-colored balls go in the hole on top, and now he understands that those two fit together. Anything that resembles the same shape, he tries to fit them together. That's why we are getting him puzzles, stacker's, and shape sorters for his birthday.

• He is starting to associate meanings with the correct words. He understands who Momma and Daddy is. Knows what "No!" means... and loves to pout when you say this. He also knows what "Bye Bye" means and will say it with a wave, when you jiggle the keys or head towards the door. He knows the difference between a dog and a duck, and can say both words very well now.

• His words: Momma, Dadda, Bye Bye, Dog, Duck, Eddie, Huh? and Ahhh!

• Diapers: Size 4


• Clothes: Just now getting into size 12 months, but can still wear some 9 months.

• Shoes: His foot is actually a 4.5, but we bought him a 5.5 wide for his birthday!

• Foods: We recently started him with more textured food and some easy table foods. Introduced a few Gerber Graduate meals at dinnertime, for toddlers. He still has 3 meals per day, and 3 bottles in a 24 hour time span. Although, we are hoping to start weening him from his bottle and introduce new sippy cups!

• He is not crazy about the sippy cups yet... but he loves to drink from a straw!

• His new favorite snack are Goldfish Crackers!

• Still has 8 teeth... all 4 front on top and bottom.


• Same sleep habits as he did at 11 Months.


• His head full of hair, is starting to curl! He also has a cow-lick on his left side, that always sticks out. It's too cute!

• Likes to stand up in the bath tub now!

• Loves playing silly games with you... especially "cat and mouse" where you pretend to chase after him. He will crawl as fast as he can to try and hide, then giggles away!

• Loves to give kisses and hugs.

• Likes to share and give you things... he also likes to feed you snacks too!

• Very independent. Prefers to do things by himself... like brushing his teeth and his hair.


• Loves to play with his toys now. His favorites are ones that make music or sounds or those that have wheels on them, so he can roll them around. He also loves the big toys that he can ride on, and will stay on them for hours!

It still has not sunk in, that we now have a ONE YEAR OLD! We had an AMAZING first year with Kamden. We are really looking forward to our journey into the toddler years. This next year will be just as fun and exciting as the last!
