FIRST FATHER'S DAY with Kamden.
Today was Keith's FIRST Father's Day with Kamden. I wanted this day to be very special for them. Just as Keith reminded me last night, "When I'm 80, rocking on my front porch, I will remember this day."
Keith went to get big brother Blake early this morning. I was finishing up the grocery shopping and a few last minute errands. We planned a cook out at our new place in Asheville and Keith's dad, Wayne and his sister, Sheila, came over to celebrate the day with us! The only thing that was missing was my dad, who was out of town for the weekend.
I bought Keith a new gas grill, since ours just recently "retired" on us. He loved it! We grilled pork loin, corn on the cob, cheesy potato wedges, and baked beans. For dessert I whipped up some strawberry shortcake (Keith's favorite) and had a watermelon, that we were to stuffed to cut open to eat!
We all spent some time together, and then I took the three boys-- Keith, Kamden, and Blake to Hendersonville to the Elks Pool. Both of our family's get a membership every summer there, so all of us can go swimming. We had the best time!
Kamden loves the water! He just smiles and giggles the whole time. The first few times he whined a little, because the water was too cold for him. Now it doesn't even phase him. We kept letting him stand up on the side of the pool and jump in, and he thought that was just the funnest thing ever!
Keith's two boys are his entire world. He's the happiest I've ever seen him, when he is hanging out with them. Since Kamden has come along, I've seen a great change in Keith. He is more patient, calm, and understanding. He is a wonderful father. I am so fortunate to have his help taking care of Kamden and have his hand in raising our family. His boys truly bring out the best in him.
Overall, it was a beautiful day. The weather was sunny, warm, and just perfect for a family day. Kamden is saying "Da Da" all the time now, just in time for his FIRST Father's Day! I know that we will always remember today for as long as we live... it was a very special time with the most important people in our life!
