Kam's FIRST 5k Race

Kamden completed his first 5k race today! We walked 3 miles, in under an hour, in the 18th Annual Frostbite Run, hosted by Park Ridge Hospital. It was a beautiful winter day, and lucky for us... a little on the warm side! Keith and Blake played basketball, while we paired up with two other mom's and their kids. Pushing those heavy strollers was even more of a challenge, especially with the rolling hills. I found out quickly that our Quinny stroller is not meant for off-roding, hiking, or rough terrain, haha. But... we made it!

The college where I work, put together a team to contribute to the event this year. The senior nursing students started running in 2010 as part of their community service and legacy project for future classes. This year the nursing class of 2011 continued the tradition and were joined by 26 faculty, staff, students, and alumni. It was a great opportunity to support a great cause. All race proceeds went to benefit the Park Ridge KidPower Energize! Program, a free program offered to the community to help promote the benefits of nutrition and exercise, while combating childhood obesity and Type 2 Diabetes.

Afterwards, the gang was hungry. We went with friends to "Papas and Beer" mexican restaurant. Their food is wonderful! Kamden loved trying queso dip for the first time. We got done just in time to attend the evening worship service at church! Days like today, spent with family and friends, are priceless.
