Kamden's 2nd Easter!

Hoppy Easter!

Today was Kamden's 2nd Easter! He is 2 weeks shy of 20 Months old... so this Easter was extra fun for him and us. Our day started out as a lazy Sunday morning. We watched Kamden dig into his Easter basket filled with his favorite candies... Reese Cups, M & M's, and Jelly Beans. Of course, we keep him away from all the junk food normally, so he was really loving all the yummy treats this holiday. The sweetest gift was the little bunny that sings, "Jesus loves me"!

Since Kamden has came into the world, we have started our own little family tradition by having Christmas and Easter brunch at one of our favorite restaurants in Asheville, "Black Forest". It's traditional German cuisine, but during the holidays they have your typical holiday meal with all the trimmings. It is the best holiday food money can buy... aside from Grandma's cooking of course!

This time last year, Kamden was only around 7 months old. He was just learning to use his utensils. I can still remember him being entertained with the spoons on the tables at the restaurant. This year, he had moved on to bigger and better things: Easter Eggs! It was so neat that the restaurant hid Easter eggs all around so the kids could find them while we waited on our food. I'm pretty sure Kam found every egg in that place... and they were filled with lots of goodies!

After lunch, we headed over to the church we've been attending since we moved last year, Biltmore Baptist. They were having a huge egg hunt and events for the kids in celebration of the real meaning we celebrate Easter. This was Kamden's FIRST egg hunt... and we was quite confused on what it was all about. He kept calling the eggs, "balls" and instead of picking them up off the ground he kept stealing them from the other tot's baskets. haha. With help from Daddy, after a few minutes, he finally got the hang of it, and had so much fun collecting eggs.

There were grand prizes for whoever found the golden eggs. Unfortunately, we weren't fast enough this year. It was several hundred kids running as fast as they could to the center of a field. Little Kamden's legs just couldn't keep up. After the hunt was over, the prizes were set up on the table. One of them included a giant 6 foot frog that Kamden had been eyeing weeks ago at Sam's Club. I wanted to get it for him then, but the thing was literally half the size of his room it seemed like. When he saw it there on Easter, he helped himself in pulling it right off the table! haha. He is something else... we put it back for whoever the lucky winner was.

By the end of the day's Easter festivities, Kamden was tuckered out. Between the egg hunt and the evening services, they had a family picnic. The three of us had a hot dog dinner, one of Kam's new favorite foods! We really enjoyed the day's events and mingling with the other families and children.

We attended the evening worship service, while Kam visited "Praise Island" for the kids. It's nice to have child care during the Church sermon so that you're not constantly interrupted. Kamden wasn't crazy about leaving us when he first started going to the nursery, but he loves it now. He is ready to get down and play. The young girls that watch over the kids always look forward to him coming.

Overall, this Easter holiday was wonderful. I love seeing how much Kamden has grown from the previous year and how every holiday seems brand new to him with different discoveries every time. We are so thankful that God blessed us with this precious child and filled our hearts with the same love he had for his only son, Jesus. Through Kamden, the Lord has showed us the magnitude of love he has for the entire world, and that is why Easter is so very special to us.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
- John 3:16
