SHOWERED with LOVE.

I have to constantly stop and thank the Lord for all the WONDERFUL blessings he has given to us this year. First the miracle of having a child. Then a precious baby boy. A healthy pregnancy... and now family and friends who have shown their love and support.

Our baby shower was held at our church, Mud Creek Baptist, on Sunday, June 7, 2009. We had about 60 guests come and celebrate this special occasion with us! A BBQ lunch with all the fixings was catered to us by my personal favorite Okie Dokie's Smokehouse in Black Mountain. Granny Terri (haha, she hates it when I call her that!) also helped with the rest of the food too... and WOW, I haven't had fresh lemonade that good since my Mammaw Lyda was living! Out of this world... GOOD!!!

I'm really grateful that my parents offered to host the shower and help make this special day one that Keith and I will NEVER forget! I know they say you're not suppose to plan your own party, but I had to throw a few ideas of my own in the mix! Ya'll know me... I love to plan special events and there was no way I was passing this one up! McFarlins Bakery designed the cake for us... and silly me forgot to cut it! haha... so we were eating the best cake in Hendersonville for the entire week following! I also used little gold fish and balloons for center peices, which we gave to the kids after. I bet their parents weren't too happy about that! lol.

My favorite was the activities table... and you know me, being the sentimental person that I am-- I really wanted everyone to be able to participate in things that we could keep for our son to have when he grows up. We had the "Belly of Yarn" game where people cut yarn to try to guess how big my belly was! This was quite hilarious! We also set up an autograph picture frame, a time capsule for guests to bring items from 2009 to have later in his life, baby traits game to see what traits our guests thought he should inherit from us, baby pool cards to guess his birth weight, height, etc. and my favorite were the letters to the baby-- where all the guests wrote to our baby boy. It all made up for some FUN entertainment to last the afternoon!

We still cannot put into words how thankful we are for the AMAZING gifts everyone brought to our son or the ones sent to us by mail. I definitely think he's going to have 5 different wardrobes before he even starts kindergarten! haha. It really meant a lot to us that our family and friends were there for us during this time... and also the ones who drove for miles from out of town to be there on this special day. Even though it was a busy day for us, it was so nice to be able to see everyone that we don't normally get to see often. This day really made me realize how lucky we are to have such great people in our lives and to share this experience with. It really touched our hearts and made for a day I will ALWAYS REMEMBER and CHERISH for the rest of my life.
